Authentic

For years I've been thinking and writing about what is best. How do you make the best coffee? How do choose the right path? I've been haunted by the knowledge that what is best is not always what is true or real. Pragmatically, one theory is more true than another if it predicts the future better. If its operationally accurate than its true. The good is merely the better. Better coffee is good. There's another form of truth which cannot be operationally defined. It's authentic. It's real. Its worthy of belief and faith. Its not close to the truth, it is the truth. The word authentic is from the greek. Autos as in "self" and hentes meaning "doer" or "being". It is done or is just itself. Not a copy, not an approximation, but through and through just itself.

Inside and Out

Something authentic is exactly what it appears to be. From first impression to familiarity, it's not going to change. Inside and outside its the same. When you open up the package, inside is exactly what was advertised on the outside. It's not surprising.
